The Waterloo Black Hawks played their first game in Young Arena on January 14, 1995; on the 25th anniversary of that date, Famous Dave’s in Cedar Falls is offering Hawks fans several reasons to celebrate during a matchup against the Tri-City Storm.
To begin with, the first 1,000 fans in attendance on Tuesday, January 14th will receive a free Young Arena 25th Anniversary logo keychain, presented by Famous Dave’s. The logo features a rendering of the rink’s well-known steps and main entrance, below the digits “25.” That keychain could also be attached to an additional (tasty) freebee.
“Famous Dave’s has been a devoted partner for many years,” said Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene. “Since Famous Dave’s just celebrated their own 25th anniversary, they were particularly excited to be part of this special night for the Black Hawks and the City of Waterloo.”
In addition to the free key chains, Famous Dave’s is providing an extra incentive for local hockey fans to be on hand for the January 14th game. If there are at least 2,500 people in attendance for the 25th anniversary celebration, everyone will receive a certificate for a free Famous Dave’s appetizer which can be redeemed at their restaurant location: 6222 University Avenue in Cedar Falls.
And to sweeten the offer even more, if the crowd on the 14th matches the attendance from the first game played in Young Arena (3,250) back in 1995, then 25 lucky fans selected at random will receive free Famous Dave’s for a year!
In addition to the special anniversary promotions, the Hawks’ game against the Storm will also feature throwback concession pricing: $2 hot dogs, nachos, and soft drinks.
