For over 20 years, Waterloo hockey fans have cheered for the Black Hawks to beat the RoughRiders. On Tuesday, February 4th, those fans have their own opportunity to top Cedar Rapids during a challenge which will benefit Friends of the Family.
From 4 to 8 p.m., when Black Hawks faithful visit their Culver’s location in Waterloo or Cedar Falls, 10 percent of their purchase will support Friends of the Family's mission to help survivors and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Cedar Rapids fans will be doing the same thing at their local Culver’s. Players from both teams will be at participating locations to greet and remind fans about the effort throughout the evening.
The most successful fundraising fan base will be recognized on Saturday, February 15th when the Black Hawks meet the RoughRiders for a game at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
On February 4th, the Frozen Custard Flavor of the Day is Caramel Peanut Buttercup in Waterloo and Chocolate Almond Salted Caramel in Cedar Falls.
Culver’s has earned its reputation for deliciousness by cooking all of their ButterBurgers to order and crafting every batch of Fresh Frozen Custard throughout the day. In addition, Culver’s supports farmers through programs like Future Farmers of America; since 2013, Culver’s has donated over $2 million to agriculture education.
Since 1992, Friends of the Family’s mission has been to provide safe shelter, confidential services, and housing assistance to individuals in crisis due to homelessness, domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Their violence prevention programs are educating thousands of youth and adults on how they can prevent violence. Their housing programs help homeless families and individuals achieve independence and stability. And their emergency shelter program helps victims of violent crime achieve safety and an independent life, free from abuse.
