$16.50 Campaign Warm & Fuzzy in March

By WBH, 03/05/20, 2:45PM CST

Donations this Month Help Animals Find “Forever” Homes

Over 4,000 animals come to the Cedar Bend Humane Society each year, and during March, the $16.50 Campaign presented by Slumberland Furniture, 1650 The Fan, and the Waterloo Black Hawks will make life better for those cats, dogs, and other creatures.

Each month as part of the $16.50 Campaign, the objective is for 100 Black Hawks fans and 1650-AM listeners to give the modest gift of $16.50 to the featured charitable organization.  If that goal is achieved, collectively fans will have the opportunity to take pride in an impactful total gift of $1,650 at month’s end.

The Cedar Bend Humane Society describes its mission with the acronym P.E.T.S. The organization strives to: Place animals in lifelong, loving homes, Educate on the issues of humane care, Teach responsible pet ownership, and Shelter the stray, neglected, and unwanted.  The organization traces its roots back more than 100 years.  Their adoption center and facilities are located at 1166 West Airline Highway in Waterloo.  The Black Hawks and the Cedar Bend Humane Society have partnered on a variety of initiatives and promotions over the years, including the annual Dainty Doggy Dash, which was held earlier this season in January.

“For so many people, having a dog or cat or other pet means having another member of the family,” said Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene.  “Animals are capable of bringing us so much joy and comfort, so I really encourage everyone to support the Cedar Bend Humane Society, and when the time is right to bring a new pet into your household, consider a shelter pet first.”
