The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have left us with the ultimate cliffhanger: we’ll never know how the 2019/20 Waterloo Black Hawks season would have finished.
So, the Black Hawks are inviting folks in the Cedar Valley and around the world to use their imaginations and tell us what would have happened during this weekend’s home-and-home regular season finale series against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Monday, the team introduced its Waterloo Black Hawks Fan Fiction Contest.
Would the Hawks have won big? Would a desperate Buccaneers team have surprised Waterloo in a last ditch effort to qualify for the playoffs? Would the games have gone to overtime? Who would have scored the big goal or made the big save?
“Since fans can’t come to the rink in person this weekend, we hope they will join us in spirit, and tell us how they think this year would have finished,” said Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene. “We hope people will have some fun with this, and if there is enough interest, maybe we’ll follow up next week with a playoff edition.”
The best 100-to-400-word game (or weekend) recap will be shared on waterlooblackhawks.com next Monday, and the winning submission will earn a prize package from the team and Black Hawks sponsors. Entries will only be accepted through the form below or by clicking here
