The “Fight for Good” is the objective for the $16.50 Campaign presented by Slumberland Furniture this month, as the Black Hawks, Slumberland, and 1650, The Fan, celebrate the efforts of The Salvation Army of Waterloo/Cedar Falls.
Each month as part of the $16.50 Campaign, the objective is for 100 Black Hawks fans to make a modest contribution of $16.50 to the featured charitable organization. If that goal is achieved, collectively fans will have the opportunity to take pride in an impactful total gift of $1,650 at month’s end.
The Salvation Army of Waterloo/Cedar Falls provides a wide variety of services: sheltering the homeless, feeding the hungry, creating recreational activities for youth, responding to disaster situations, and more. The organization is hoping to generate a total of $601,000 as part of its annual winter Red Kettle Campaign.
“We are putting a virtual red kettle in front of Young Arena,” said Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene. “This year, The Salvation Army’s work is of even greater consequence. At the same time, fewer people are shopping in person and carrying cash, so traditional donations to The Salvation Army are being squeezed. We hope this will serve as a reminder that there are many ways to give.”
