Expanded Free Service Returns When New Season Starts

As the Waterloo Black Hawks return to Young Arena’s ice for the first home game of the 2021/22 season, the popular Game Night Shuttle will also return, bringing fans from peripheral parking areas right to the rink doors.

This free service is a collaboration between the City of Waterloo, MET Transit, and the Black Hawks and is available to all fans with tickets on game nights starting October 1st.  With a new, expanded route for this season, the shuttle will provide more options than in any previous year.

“Even though summerlike weather will still be here this weekend, we all know hockey is a winter sport, and there are a lot of people who will be glad to take advantage of this option during the months ahead,” said Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene.  “On behalf of our fans, I would like to express tremendous gratitude to the City and MET for their efforts which help extend the available parking areas around Young Arena in this way.”
Before the first puck drops this Friday, the shuttle will be ferrying passengers in a loop with pickups at the River Road lot west of the rink, The Courtyard by Marriott on Westfield Avenue, the Riverloop Expo Plaza area, Doughy Joey’s, Best Western Executive Residency, and Smitty’s Bar, with drop-off in the rink parking lot.  Service will begin one hour before each game’s scheduled start time, and the bus will run for 90 minutes.  After the game, busloads of fans will be transported back to their respective parking areas for 30 minutes after the final horn.
Due to federal guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control, all passengers aboard public busses must wear a face covering while riding.  This includes the Game Night Shuttle.

Tickets for the Hawks’ Friday home opener versus the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are on sale now through  Fans attending the 7:05 p.m. game will receive a 60th season poster schedule, presented by Karen’s Print Rite.
