Long Trip Begins with Late Setback

Zach Metsa’s scored 33 seconds into overtime, scooting the Youngstown Phantoms past the Waterloo Black Hawks, 5-4 Wednesday during the preseason USHL Fall Classic in Pittsburgh.

The goal capped Youngstown’s rally which had begun with 4:27 remaining in regulation when Curtis Hall found the net.  Max Ellis tied it with 1:47 left to play, completely erasing what had been a two-goal deficit.  Eric Esposito and Craig Needham also scored for the Phantoms.

Jack Drury led Waterloo with a goal and tan assist.  During the second period, he set up a score by Matt Koopman.  With nine minutes to play in the third, Drury’s goal broke a 2-2 tie.  Ethan Johnson and Garrett Klee were responsible for the Hawks' other goals.
