Karen’s Print Rite brings you regular updates on former Waterloo Black Hawks players. This week’s top performers include:
#3 – Joe Pavelski
San Jose Sharks (NHL) • Forward
While Pavelski chases the 300th goal of his NHL career, he has opened up a four-game assist streak. The Sharks took the ice four times in a seven-day span, claiming seven of eight possible standings point. Pavelski’s assist on the power play at the end of the stretch Tuesday set up the goal which proved to be the winner during the 3-1 result against the Philadelphia Flyers. The four-game point streak is Pavelski’s longest since last January. He currently has 12 points this season.
#2 – Patrick Russell
Bakersfield Condors (AHL) • Forward
Spending his second season in the American Hockey League, Russell scored two goals on November 25th. The first of them came early in the third period to break a 2-2 tie with the San Antonio Rampage. The second capped the scoring late in the 7-3 win. It was Russell’s first multigoal game as a professional. Through just 17 games, his four goals put him halfway to matching the eight he recorded during 68 games as a rookie.
#1 – David Cotton
Boston College Eagles (NCAA) • Forward
The Eagles only played once over the Thanksgiving week, but Cotton made the most of the opportunity. The matchup with Harvard ended up in a 4-4 tie. Cotton had a hand in all four goals. Late in the first, he assisted on the game’s opening goal. Midway through the second, another assist drew BC back even after the Crimson had tied the game. Less than three minutes later, Cotton scored himself to put Boston College back in front. The teams exchanged goals in the third and the sophomore picked up another assist. Cotton now has nine points this year after 24 in 40 appearances as a freshman.
