Lines Will Form to See Players Waterloo Selected in Phase II

Waterloo Black Hawks’ coaches knew just what they wanted Tuesday when they selected 18 players during Phase II of the United States Hockey League’s 2018 Draft.

The 2017/18 Anderson Cup champions reloaded with skaters at every position, led by first round selection Kyle Haskins.  The leading scorer for the Selects Academy U18 team at South Kent School averaged better than a point per game last winter.  Appearing at USA Hockey’s U18 Nationals, Haskins scored during a championship game victory over the Cape Cod Whalers.

Waterloo’s next three picks also competed in the national tournament.  Center Ryan Drkulec was formerly a teammate of 2017/18 Black Hawk forward Bobby Trivigno at Shattuck-St. Mary’s.  Defensemen Mason Lohrei and Brock Paul come to the Cedar Valley after forming a blue line tandem at Culver Academy.

In total, the Hawks chose 13 forwards, three defensemen, and two goaltenders.  Waterloo’s complete Phase II results are below:
