Seven Waterloo Players on Season-Opening Rosters

The 2018/19 National Hockey League regular season begins in a matter of hours, with four Wednesday evening matchups to be played, from Washington D.C. in the east to San Jose in the west.

Seven former Waterloo Black Hawks players are preparing to begin the year with their respective teams.  By Saturday, all of them may have had the opportunity to skate for the first time this year.

J.T. Brown and Vinnie Hinostroza are each expected to make their first appearances for new teams.  During the summer, Brown signed with the Minnesota Wild after splitting time last year with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Anaheim Ducks.  Hinostroza was traded from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Arizona Coyotes.

Joe Pavelski, now a senior statesman at the NHL level will begin his 13th campaign with the San Jose Sharks.  Pavelski is approaching several statistical milestones and has scored 20 goals or more in nine of the last ten years (the one exception was the lockout-shortened 2012/13 season).

In Florida, Jacob MacDonald may make his NHL debut on Saturday when his Panthers meet the Lightning.  MacDonald was an American Hockey League All-Star last winter and signed a free agent contract with Florida during the offseason.

Below, find the details about all of the Black Hawks who open the new year at hockey’s highest level:
