Seven players who have spent time with the Waterloo Black Hawks were on the home bench when the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs raised their 2017/18 NCAA Championship banner on Saturday.

Five were part of last season’s championship run.  Two were freshman who helped the Black Hawks to the 2017/18 Anderson Cup.

The game which followed between the Bulldogs and the University of Minnesota ended in a 1-1 tie.  Former Hawk Peter Krieger scored the lone UMD goal.

While the Black Hawks’ presence in Duluth is notable, Waterloo players will skate for many of the other top contenders for NCAA glory in 2018/19.

This week, USA Hockey released its first regular season college rankings of the year.  Hawks alumni are skating for nine of the top ten teams on the poll.
