Karen’s Print Rite brings you regular updates on former Waterloo Black Hawks players. This week’s top performers include:
#3 – Robbie Beydoun
Michigan Tech Huskies (NCAA) • Goalie
Hosting Alabama Huntsville for two games over the weekend, Beydoun made his second and third starts of the season. He turned away 15 of 16 shots on Friday, but didn’t receive any offensive support in a 1-0 loss. Nonetheless, Beydoun rebounded the next night in another close one. The visitors got one against him in the early going, but Beydoun stopped Huntsville’s other 13 shots and the Huskies scratched out an overtime win, 2-1. He has allowed just three goals in over 230 minutes of game action this season.
#2 – Brandon Montour
Anaheim Ducks (NHL) • Defenseman
Montour had a game which harkened back to his time with the Black Hawks when the Ducks hosted the Dallas Stars on December 12th. After the Ducks were down 3-1, Montour set up the game-tying goal midway through the third period. Less than two minutes later, he scored the game-winner. The defenseman assisted on two other goals to finish with four points, all in the third period. The career-best scoring performance also included a +5 plus/minus differential.
#1 – Brock Boeser
Vancouver Canucks (NHL) • Forward
Power play production propelled Boeser to six points in four games. The 21-year-old had goals in three straight games: December 13th at Nashville, December 15th versus Philadelphia, and December 16th against Edmonton. He also notched three assists in that time. Four of his points came in power play situations. The recent outburst lifts Boeser’s point total to 23 (12 goals, 11 assists) in 24 appearances. Including two multipoint games in the last week, he has five such efforts this year.
