It is neither Pamplona, Spain, nor Churchill Downs, but for a few minutes on the evening of Saturday, January 19th, Young Arena will have some of the excitement of both, with the addition of wet noses and wagging tails.
The Waterloo Black Hawks 2019 Dainty Doggy Dash is presented by Paw Prints Pet Salon in Waterloo and will be held during intermission when the Hawks host the Dubuque Fighting Saints at 7:05 p.m.
Entries are currently being accepted for the event, which will raise money for the Cedar Bend Humane Society. Fully-grown dogs weighing 25 pounds or less are eligible to compete for glory and prizes.
“When this concept was first introduced, there were some people who thought we were barking up the wrong tree,” said Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. “Yet time and time again, we have seen that this is the perfect event for the dog days of winter.”
Registrations are requested by Thursday, January 17th. All dashing doggies will be monitored by Black Hawks staff at a check-in/check-out area throughout the entire evening. A kennel should be brought from home for each participating dog. The $10 registration fee per dog will benefit the Cedar Bend Humane Society.
Each entered hound must be accompanied by two human representatives who will be on ice during the festivities. Game tickets will be available for $10 each for these assistants. For more information, please call the Black Hawks at (319) 232-3444.
